In spite of our early night, we slept in until
8.00am. There are 2 gorges here and the larger one, Dimond Gorge, has canoes
you can hire to go exploring.
We spent a lovely day on the water, finding a
cave just big enough for us to paddle into and, after a short bush bash, a
water fall with a small pool underneath. We negotiated a set of rapids and
pulled in at a few small beaches so we could cool off with a swim.
As we were alone on the water, it was so quiet
that we saw lots of birds and fish. The time passed so quickly, we were
surprised to see it was 3.45pm when we returned to the car.
We'd noticed there was a Telstra phone so, when we got back, we were able to have a quick chat to FNG, then we had a nice cold ginger beer at the lovely outdoor bar, overlooking the bird lawn and met some of the other guests.
They have luxury accommodation here in safari
tents with private en suites - $170 per night as they're on special offer for
the end of the season! There's also a very nice restaurant with gourmet food.
Needless to say, Rodger and I had another BBQ!
