We woke up early as we'd spotted a phone and wished
our Grandson David a happy birthday (for yesterday). The pool was out of
action, which was a disappointment, but the good thing is that they have a good
workshop here. A few weeks ago, the latch on our drawer broke, which means that
every time we go round a corner, the drawer flies open. Rodger ordered a new
latch from Sydney and we picked it up in Darwin, but they sent the wrong size.
With a block of wood and the loan of a drill, Rodger was able to adapt and fit
it this morning. Thanks to the guys at home valley - they have the best equipped workshop on the Gibb River Road.
This afternoon Rodger went on a guided fishing
trip with Tom, who had been recommended to us by some people we met on the way.
Maybe, at last, he'll get that barramundi! I spent the afternoon reading in a
shady spot near the pool (now fixed) and swimming whenever I got too hot - a
bit like being on a cruise!
As Rodger was still not successful in bringing
home a fish, we had a try at making jacket potatoes in the fire for our dinner.
The only problem was that they took so long to cook that we ate a whole packet
of chips while we waited! At last they were done and very tasty with a bit of 2
day old bolognaise sauce and grated cheese.
