It wasn't a great day for finding good surf. We went to Yallingup,
where we saw surf champion, Taj Burrow's house, Moses Rock, Gracetown and
Prevelly but there wasn't much surf and therefore not many people out.

As we
drove from beach to beach, we passed many vineyards, which have beautiful
gardens, interspersed with gourmet food outlets, olive oil, an ice creamery, a
wood fired bakery, a venison farm and a boutique brewery, called the
"Cheeky Monkey". We stopped in here to have a look, as it was a
winery and providore too. There was lots of nice foods there, but expensive.
All along the way, under the trees, there were
Madonna lilies growing wild and we saw some other pretty deep pink flowers too.
As there wasn't any surf, we went inland to
Margaret River, which is quite a big town, and then we went to visit a chocolate
factory. Even I was able to have a taste, as their dark chocolate was gluten
and dairy free. It was lovely chocolate, very smooth and silky. We were able to
watch them working in the factory through a big window and there was a cafe
where Rodger had a really delicious hot, white chocolate and a cherry and
coconut slice and I had a decaf coffee and gluten free chocolate/ hazelnut
cake. It was all very yummy but so rich that Rodger had to save some of his for
later and even I was so chocolated out that I didn't want to sample any more on
the way out!
We'd seen a good, and reasonably priced,
caravan park at Gracetown, so we returned here for the night. It has
basketball, volleyball and tennis courts and a big screen to show movies, as
well as a good camp kitchen & BBQ. Rodger went and got tennis rackets and
balls for us, even though it's many years since we played and I can't run!
Anyway, he talked me into a game and gradually we improved enough to have some
good rallies - as long as Rodger hit the ball near me!
We rang FNG and found that you slackers took a
night off! It was good to talk to John Watt though and catch up with the news
through him.
