After a leisurely start, we called in to Green
Park to check for surf, but found it had a beautiful bay with white, white
sand.
We continued on to Lesueur National Park as
this is another place that's good for seeing flowers. It was great, we stopped
the car every few yards at first, as we kept seeing new ones. When we got to
the lookout, there were many different kinds and some of them don't grow
anywhere else in the world. The sad thing was that the flies were so terrible
that every time we got out of the car and all along our walk, we were mobbed by
dozens of them. Our repellent stopped them landing on us but not from buzzing
annoyingly just in front of our eyes, so it was hard to see.
Our next destination was Jurien Bay, which is
supposed to be good for snorkelling and seeing sea lions. Unfortunately it was
as disappointing as the reports of good surfing have been! The water is too
churned and sandy to see anything and the man who did the sea lion trips has
been closed down by DEC until further notice. As they live out on the islands,
we can't just go and look by ourselves.
Like a bob-tailed skink but with a long tail - he ran across the road in front of us |
As it was still daylight, Rodger decided to go
fishing but he only caught 3 blowies, which are ocean vermin, and have to be
killed.
A great morning but not such a successful
afternoon! At least there are no high winds, flies or mossies so we're able to
enjoy sitting outside.
