During the early hours of the morning the wind
came up and I woke at 4.30am, because it was so wild, and remembered that I
laid our reef shoes out on the back bumper to dry. I knew I had to get up and
fetch them inside before they blew away. I retrieved them and then found our
chairs down by the next van, but more surprising still was the discovery that
it had been raining - this is the first rain we have had since we left home on 3 July 2013!
Due to this nocturnal activity and the fact
that the morning was dull and overcast, we didn't wake up until 8.00am and then
we weren't inspired to leap out of bed and get moving, so we decided to pay for
another night and have a lazy day.
Actually, once we finally got up, we did work quite
hard, as we still had to remove all the dust from the inside of the van, Rodger
pulled out the mats and washed them and the floor, then we decided that the
rest of the van looked so good that we needed to wash the curtains too!
After all this activity, and lots of chats with
the neighbours about the storm, we set off to see more of the town. We went out
to the mile long jetty and walked to the end, nearly being blown out to sea.
It's so long that there's a little train to take people out and back. Near the
beginning of the Jetty are a Lighthouse and a Railway Museum.
Next we went to find the fishing fleet which is
based here and we bought some fresh prawns down at the harbour. On the way, we
saw a children's park with 2 Blue whale ribs as a gateway.

When we got back to the camping ground, we had
BBQ prawns and chicken and then we Skyped my brother Simon and his family as,
in France, the children don't go to school on Wed, so it's a good day to catch
them.
