So beautiful waking up to be surrounded by
trees – so cool and shady and smelt good too!
We’ve hardly seen real trees for weeks.
Walked along Barramundi Creek to the gorge and
waterfall for a cautious swim.
Water was very clear and we could see so many
fish.
Back at the car by lunch time and travelled to
Cooinda resort to book our cruise and make use of their swimming pool while we
waited. Visited the Aboriginal Cultural
Centre which was beautifully laid out telling the history of the local
indigenous clans and their way of life.
At 4:30 pm we set off on our boat trip (yellow Waters Cruise down the
South Alligator Creek and wetlands with a knowledgeable Aboriginal guide. Saw many crocodiles and different sorts of
water birds and animals like wild pigs.
Lovely to see White breasted Sea Eagles and many other birds.
This photo shows the height of the water during
the wet season and some water lilies..
It was a lovely time to be on the water because
of the evening reflections.
We finished the trip by watching the sun go
down before returning to the wharf.
As it was nearly dark, we hurried to the
camping area at Mardugal where we gathered firewood by torch light and Rodger
stoked up a camp fire to cook dinner.
