We headed off towards the W.A border and part 3
of our holiday, however we saw signs warning us that we'd have to surrender all
our fruit & veg at the border so we realised we needed to stop for one more
night before we crossed so we could finish up our supplies. We found a nice
little camping area in Gregory National Park, on the Victoria River called the
Big Horse Creek Campground – what a great find and not even on our maps!
This place has lots of boab trees and one of
them has 4 trunks and a circumference of 12 metres. We watched a bird, some
sort of honey eater, hang upside down to get a few drops of water off the tap-
the river was only 100m away - so we thought he was pretty lazy!
We were early enough for Rodger to throw in a
line and have another try for the elusive barramundi.
Needless to say, he
didn't get one but at least he didn't lose his new lure! I kept a watchful eye on Rodger (at least the
one that wasn’t on my book) in case a croc fancied him for dinner.
Rodger finished fishing and we watched another beautiful
sunset over the river.
Big fruit salad for dinner to use up our fruit.
